High School 1517 in the North-West of Moscow is 10 years old. It is an education institution of a high level. Aleksey Barenbaum, the deserved teacher of Russia, is the director of the High School. A pupil is an object and subject of pedagogical system of the High School. The main aim of our High School is to create a good atmosphere for education and development of the pupils, we take into account pupil's personal abilities and needs, to make comfortable psychologically situation, to develop creative abilities of each pupil. For the last 3 years we have been working as a city experimental platform on the theme: "Education of 10-11 form students with individual educational plans."

In the pedagogical team there are 5 deserved teachers, 7 teachers of higher estimation, 2 honorary teachers, 7 teachers have governmental rewards, 5 are the Soros Foundation Prize, 2 doctors of sciences, and 8 candidates of sciences. 46% of the teachers have the highest level of qualification, 32% have the first level of qualification. 68% of the teachers use multimedia technologies at the lessons, work wits telecommunication projects.

Pedagogical team of High School¹1517 shares their experience with their colleagues by holding seminars, science-practical conferences on different themes: "new ways of managing the high School", "Effectiveness of monitoring in ruling the educational process", "Pupil's educating by means of supplementary educating", "Problems and tendencies of teaching history and social studies in modern school", "Civilians teaching in complementary Russian school", "Bringing up pupils as future elections". Advanced Programs in all subjects define the formatting of educating process for the pupils of 5th-9th forms of High School. To get deeper knowledge in different subject 89% of the pupils of the 7th-9th forms attend personal consultations. It is meant to help in getting specialized education in 10th-11th forms. The programs of teaching in the upper grades are planned on individual bases. Programs of teaching mathematics, physics, law, medicine, humanities, economics in the 10th-11th forms include individual consultations in such subjects as:

  • Computer design;
  • Logic;
  • Special algebra topics;
  • Politics and law;
  • Vital problems of today's world;
  • Programming;
  • Antique culture;
  • World religions;
  • Myths and mythology;
  • Basic in psychology knowledge.

Pupils of our High School are winners in district, city, Russian and international Olympians and creative competitions in different spheres of knowledge, and chess competitions, sport orientation, tennis.

The system of work on additional education in the high school involves 93 per cent of students. All the pupils besides two physical training lessons go to the swimming pool near the high school once a week. 89 per cent of the pupils are involved into the sports activities. Tourists and regional study works are the forms of spending leisure hours of pupils and their parents..


362 pupils have left the high school during the last five years, 26 of them have got gold and silver medals "For especial success in studies". All the leavers study in institutions of higher education of Moscow: the Lomonossov University, Aviation Institute, Law and Financial Academies, Institute of Foreign Relations, the 1st and the 2nd medical colleges, Academy of management. The high school cooperates with many institutes of the capital. There are contracts of cooperation and the common exam, which is the passing out examination in the high school and the entrance examination in the institute at the same time, with Moscow Aviation Institute and the Highest School of Economy.

The pupils of the high school gladly take part in the work of clubs "Young medical man", "Young mathematician" , "Young archaeologist". The pupils work in the clubs has an educational-research character. Cooperation with Moscow Aviation Institute, the Lomonossov University, the Pushkin State museum of fine arts, the Institute of Archaeology helps with scientific-methodics provision of the study-educational process. Thus, for example, the high school organizes annual archaeological expeditions to Fanagoria together with the Institute of Archaeology.

Scientific research activities of the pupils are one of the priority directions of the education in the high school. It is a continuation and profound of the high school's educational program. Many projects are telecommunicational. The results of the projects remain in the high school as laboratory researches, information stands, methodics elaborations, program products. Work is conducted under the leadership of scientific workers in laboratories of institutes, expeditions, the Polytechnical museum, the station of young naturalists, the Pushkin fine arts museum, the Botkinskaja hospital, the Institute of Hydro project. Such forms of educational-cognitive activities as interactive games "Debate", "Brain-ring", "What? Where? When?", "Field of luck", "Happy chance", "Hour of triumph", etc are popular among the pupils of the high school.

The Parliament of the High school is a body of self-government. It allows every pupil to take part in discussing questions of the life and activities of our educational organization.

Educational process in the high school is provided with psychological service and medical support. Care for the health of children is indispensable condition of the teachers' work.

The high school has its Internet site, where the pupils are able to place their creative works, results in different studies or to speak out with their contemporaries from other towns of Russia or from abroad.
